Question about Timestep X

What does the X do. The description does not mention what the X in timestep X does, this seems odd especially as it is easy to increase that X with the Time Warden ability from the same sphere of influence. Is the X a typo/relic of a past iteration (which would be reasonable the ability is incredibly powerful) or are you supposed to be able to use the trait X times per round.
