Measuring ranges above combat

Are ranges to and from models that are flying "above combat" measured from the model, or a point 9"above it?

I interpreted the rules as a point 9" above the ground where your model is.

Its currently to where the model should be 9" above the ground.

@Ward Bannink On our test list (and how we are doing it in house right now) is adding 3 inches to the distance if the flyer is up in the air.  Feel free to do that. Its just not official.
