Dev QnA October 15th 9-10am PST on Discord
We are doing it again this Friday!!!! I know there are a couple outstanding things still being discussed so lets hit them up here and list out your questions which we will hit on Discord this Friday at PST.
So questions big and small are great for this forum were we will be answering 1st Age/ Core rules live on Discord. Our goal is to keep it within a 1 hour session.
We are also still looking to get the 2nd Age out this week. So exciting.
Does the reduction to toughness from Piercing also apply to toughness checks resulting from the attack (such as poison or resonance weapons) that are rolled for immediately?
Abyssal Weapon says that you may select “two Imbued Powers from Spheres of Influence you have access to and combine them into a single Imbued Power”. Does this allow lesser classes to take Tier 2 Imbued Powers as the trait that gives Abyssal Weapon is tier 1, and the only requirement is access to the sphere?
Does Power Adept and/or True Lies increase a power’s properties?
When the Death’s Gate power critically hits a model, the model explodes with a 5” dia explosion. If the models in the explosion radius that are hit are also critically hit do they also explode?
Can a model use multiple natural weapons in a single activation?
The Terror ability says that it applies its effect in Melee Combat. If another model without Terror kills a model that is in Melee Combat with a model with Terror, does the Terror effect still apply, or does the killing blow need to be dealt by a model with Terror?
On page 51 in the 1st age book in the 1st Age book Fey there is a section describing how Fey Imbued Weapons and Armor get an Enhancement Strength X that adds to properties. On page 134 in the same book it says that Imbued Powers may be augmented like other powers. Since Fey are able to freely augment their powers, why does the information on page 51 exist? Can Fey not freely augment Imbued Powers?
Let’s say a model has a total Combat Situation Modifier of +5, but because of the Maximum Age Bonus it effectively only has a +4 bonus to its Combat Situation Modifier. If this model is affected by an ability like Concealing Strikes 1, which reduces its Combat Situation Modifier by 1, is its new Combat Situation Modifier 4 or 3?
I feel like the benefit for high strenth could be turned into reducing the opponent's toughness by x for that attack, instead of only ignoring armor. This would put it in line with the Piercing X ability and I feel generally improves clarity and makes investing in strength more viable vs flat toughness builds which are very good.
In the core rules it states that you add the channel bonus to determine whether a power is cast successfully, but you don't add your channel bonus to the CRN the opponent has to save against. Is this intentional? "Save or suck" powers, or powers that only do something on crit like the Radiant Burst innare monster power seem to almost need the boost to be useful. Especially Radiant Burst, since it only does something when the opponent CANNOT save agaist your spell. And given hiw strong toughness is in this game, I dont see this happening a lot, unless you get to add your channel bonus to CRN. Or maybe Radiant Burst is just a bit crap and needs a buff. Whatever is most reasonable I guess xD
1) Taking spells through the fey tree's access through occult, I use willpower to cast and command to channel. Since I am getting Powers through
occult and not occult powers do I still use the chart on page 171 of command channeling or do I use it more like wizardy and sorcery?
Scenario: Biest level 3 takes The Occult for Occult 1. Using Occult's access to the spheres of darkness, I take the traits Destructive powers: Spell Deflection from the destruction trait/powers Sphere. 2) Do traits taken with hybrid stack with the other traits in the branch of life the hybrid originally came from?
Example under classical monster, I take Griffon which gives increase size 1. Then I take Dinosaur (same branch in the monster tree) which gives reptilia hybrid 2-dinosaur which I take Large Dinosaur as one of the hybrid traits to get Increase size 2. Does the Size increase from Griffon and reptilia hybrid-Large dinosaur stack? 3) Corrosive attacks. Are they a permanent reduction in toughness?
3a) Exotic Metals Corrosive Weapons reduces the armor/toughness by X at the effects phase, so am I correct in assuming that is a permanent effect?
3b) What about Corrosive attack X (Extremis) phontypic morph? It says it reduces the armor by X, is that also a permanent effect?
3c) Caustic Breath also says the Target Model suffers loss to armor or natural armor equal to the strength of the power. Permanent?
3d) Also is this considered a corrosive/Acid attack if its a Innate Power? Under the Water sphere of powers it states "Effect: Acidic Vapor" but nothing of the sort under innate powers. I'm asking these because last time you clarified that Talons are not a permanent reduction. 4) If a unit has Resistance Extremis 1-Acid Resistance, which I am going to assume is corrosive resistance as well, does that also effect the toughness reduction of the attack or just the strength of the attack? 5) If I have a strength higher then the maximum age bonus I ignore 1 point of armor for every enhancement above the max age bonus. What if I exceed their armor? I have a model with Crushing 2 and a strength of 7 so my Strength goes up to 14 with those attacks, that reduces the models armor by 7 but if the target model only has 2 armor?
I don't want to have these questions posted in two places but Ravenous suggested I move them over here. If the questions in this linked thread don't get answered by Friday could you give answers to them as well please?

1-Devout subclass- levels, is it suppose to be all Levels of devout only get 1 trait that is either a squad trait or single model trait?.
Also if you take the power traits that your paragon has do you have to take the same power or Can you take a different power. The Trait isn't the ability so just wondering.
2-Chao mutation enduring- does this interact with chaos mutation? Does it turn Chao mutation into a permanent increase? Or is Chao mutation enduring giveing 1 permanent increase since there no X?
3- trait interaction question.
Discipline-Nilistic X: this trait gives a CS of X that can go beyond the Max age bonus
Voices of chaos: makes it so the models CS is shared to all models with chaos traits.
So my question is- if the models CS goes over the ma age bonus does it get shared to all chaos models?
Or
Does the Shared CS get reduced to the max age for the other chaos models?
4- for an update to the books.
Could you include in the ability sections next to the names, a symbol for increase and a symbol for enhancement.
Like and I and E. Would make it a lot easier to know what's what.
5- Advanced weapons in the Fey spheres. I noticed that the advanced weapons in the fey spheres (heroism) don't have a specific Ranged or Melee next to it. do you need to select Melee or ranged when picking the advanced ability or if you pick something like power increase damage 1, could you apply it to either ranged or Melee since its in both. 6-Demonic Host 3pts: Bonus Classes 2 (Level 1 or 2 Classes Only), Species Trait Only this looks like its allowing to to make lvl 2s at class creation, are they built using the standard fey acolyte rules or can you make them as standalone classes? 7- insekt knowledge/dominion/infestation the way the rules are laid out for the various Cordyceps, armilerilla and harvester abilities make it sound like the only way to cast spells selected using the various sphere selections is through psychic awareness. is this intended? or could you still caste powers selected through the sphere choice and just use the standard casting rule of willpower+d6? and is the channeling tied to psychic awareness?. 8- agile flyer ( infernal/ celestial 2nd tier, no other use of the flight ability) if you have this ability can you not use the aerial combat rules since unlike FLIGHT its dosnt specifically call out the use of AERIAL COMBAT RULES? Flight X: Models with Flight can use the rules for Aerial Combat. If this ability comes with an X modifier, use this for the model’s movement characteristic when flying, otherwise a model uses their Movement Characteristic. Agile Flyer: A model with this ability is able to fly and get an Evasion bonus while doing so. 9- Hybrid Biest when taking this ability as a class you can select biest kingdoms, dose this include or exclude the actual biest kingdoms like ursidea, canus lupus, avian aves along with their associated abilities and stat changes?. or do you get to just select the 1st tier and 2nd tier traits? same for REPTILLIA HYBRID if you select devolutionary species do you get the stats? 10- can you take abilitys that would increase past the max age and just ignore the numbers past the age limit.
So
Could I take mineral riches 2 and mineral riches 3 and ignore the extra 1 on my lvls 1-4? 11-Evolutionary Advantage 5pts: Combined Insekt Classification This allows an Insekt Faction to take a second Classifi cation as a Species Trait. The starting characteristics are determined by picking the highest of each characteristic. does this also allow you to pick from both classification traits and do they stack? 12-in the beist starting characteristics---If you choose to start with a Biest Kingdom Trait, the Kingdom you select will have a starting set of characteristics for your species. ----If a species or class has more than one Biest Kingdom type, the point totals for both are added together and you start with the highest of each characteristic. --- how does this work? 13- this may be common knowledge but for some one that doesn't know how to wargame and has never actually done it before a breakdown of how a full round is played would be helpful. I was playing it like we only got 1 player turn to move our command value then after both players did that it was round two. not you get to go back and forth till you moved your entire army.
