I'm not enierly sure, but if I create, let's say a level 3 class, and I don't base it upon a already existing level 2 or 1 class, do I go trough every Level, receive additional stats (Wounds and Attacks) and choose traits and class options?
When creating a Lvl 3 class, do I start with three class traits, one for lvl 1, one for lvl 2 and one for lvl 3?
When creating a Lvl 3 class, can I choose to add an extra trait for +3 points (in the lvl 2 "stage") and an additional trait for +10 points (in the lvl 3 "stage")? Same for Characteristic Increases.
It kinda seems that way, because If I look at the example factions in the core book, Page 55, the Brynhild Class has 5 wounds and 6 attacks, that seems she got the additional attacks from lvl 2 and 3 and the additonal wounds from level 3.
There are two ways, one is to build off of another class, which carries with it the options etc, the other is to build it off the base faction. Going straight from the base faction doesn't allow you to pick up the extra abilities (like a quick level up type of thing).
You also should note that as you play games, there are additional mission awards that can get you additional traits and abilities. A couple of our playtesters always went that direction and planned on gaining additional traits to get everything they wanted into the class.
Ok, but how is it, when for example my Level 3 character is NOT based on a lower level character? can I pick up to 3 class traits or the other lower class options? I think this was the initial question. I would say yes, otherwise you would pay the same amount of points for less attacks (because you left out the +1 Attack from class 2). It would get even worse with class 5 (missing +1 attack from class 2 and +1 attack and +2 wound from class 3)
Creating a class from an existing one
1. Pt Cost is listed as is.
a. (Faction traits multiply here depending up Class Level)
b.(Class traits do not multiply even when being carried over to create a new class)
2. Wounds and Attacks are listed as is, although some classes add to your existing wounds noted by a +. Added wounds and attacks carry over if you create a class from this one.
3. Class Traits carry over for the point cost listed
4. Class Options also carry over for the point cost listed. (note that you do not have to carry over all your class options. Choose the ones you want)
Note that there are a few limitations here.
Maximum Age bonus for the 1st Age is 4.
There is a Maximum Number of Class Traits a class can have.
Maximum Properties is for customizing equipment, powers, etc.
Level 5's generally have a +1 to the Maximum Age Bonus taking it to 5 in the 1st Age.
Most domains do not build classes off of other classes (or have one or two that do like level 3 and 5's)
What this does thematically is continue a soldiers, wizard, etc's training and skills as they advance in Humanoids. The other domains do not have that movement in them where creatures are born with what they are. (although you can always add new traits through gameplay.)
