'Bonus' vs 'Extra' traits

I'm -probably- going to hate the answer to the question (since I suspect all my armies have been using the wrong interpretation till now). Are the 'extra' traits you can buy at the cost of some extra points during creation of a class (usually L2 and up) considered 'bonus' traits, and therefore not count towards a class' maximum amount of traits?

I was under the impression this was the case because of the word 'extra', but recently had the realization this may actually not be the case.

yeah extra just allows you to take another trait that count towards Class maximum, Bonus traits dont count towards class Maximum traits.

I interpreted it same as James. Each class can pick 1 or more traits upon creation that count towards the max trait limit. Some classes offer the option of taking an extra trait upon creation for an additional cost. These traits still count towards the maximum. Only if a trait is specifically designated as a Bonus trait, does it not count.
