Exotic War Animal ability speaks of mounts as equipment. I've gathered that Warmount ability makes the mounts equipment. And with the Mount ability you can dedicate an entire class to being a Mount and you can add Traits so you don't need Exotic War Animal ability. I've also assumed that this means a model from another class can just sit on the class with the Mount ability (it is not equiped as a Warmount). But now that I've reread the rules it does not say this explicitly. Are my thoughts correct? And if not, could you point out relevant texts please? Thank you in advance.

You are correct that there is a difference between Warmounts and Classes that take "Mount"
Warmounts do not have a class and are taken by other classes by having access to the trait. You do not need to have a separate class for this ability and the warmount being used has all it's stats listed under the ability. Since they do not have a class they can be upgraded through Exotic War Animal. This will allow you to do a little customization to your Warmounts and animals. Common Mounts are also listed in the Armory Section.
the ability Mount
The ability Mount can be taken by a class which specifically comes into play a lot with monsters. This allows you to to build a wide variety of creatures/monsters to be ridden, even doing something like riding Armored Giants ( like in Return of the King-hobbit), Dragons, Drakes, etc. They best part is that they remain can fight on their own as well since Warmounts are limited to only using Trample in combat.
Here is the ability from the Birth of Genesys
Mount: A model with this ability allows it to be ridden. When
taken as a mount use the rider’s Discipline to determine
how many may be in a single squad, as well as the the
rider’s Discipline for Morale.
A rider must be at least one size smaller than the mount to
ride it. If you are two sizes smaller, you may have two riders.
Three sizes smaller allow for three riders and so on.
Any mount may be equipped with Armor that the rider has
access to.
I will add Warmounts and Mount to the Frequently Asked Questions for the Birth of Genesys. The Birth of Genesys FAQ will be here around the end of the month. Its just about done.
ok, thx :D
@Broodje_Ham
"does this sound right?"
Yeah looks good.
"beside this if the rider is a class1, so it would have 3 traits to spend...does it mean that i have spent all of my traits, or is the trait cavalry and exotic creatures a trait and the warmount isnt?"
The chosen Warmount isn't. Simply add up its pointcosts. This means you have 1 Trait left in regards to Max Traits 3.
And what Flight does is exactly explained on page 162 at the Abilities...
hey there :)
i had a question about the the mount, with the warmount abily and thus giving option out of the biestkingdom...
the unit;
p21; - cavalry 2 pts ; warmount, mount - warmount 15 pts - exotic creatures 4 pts ; exotic war animals 2 -avian flight 5 pts ; flight -air agility 8 pts ; agile flyer, swooping attack ---> or doesnt this work because it doesnt have an attack but instead has trample? 34 pts does this sound right?
beside this if the rider is a class1, so it would have 3 traits to spend...does it mean that i have spent all of my traits, or is the trait cavalry and exotic creatures a trait and the warmount isnt? besides that, wath does flight exactly do... extra movement?
thank you all :D
grts
yes,
Common Mounts are in the Armory so that all Domains can get the opportunity to take some sort of mount in their Domain.
