Hey all, So I finally got a game in after my friends saying "oh we dont care about 1st age, we only care about 2nd and 3rd" then they got a wild hair up their rectum and started building factions with my books I lent them. I had never looked at my books since I got them, after all nobody wanted to play with non GW fantasy games with me! After getting trounced using the Reptilia faction in the book I found out some....odd(?) things when I went to go modify them. The math hurts my brain and makes no sense. So, onto the questions! (A) Why is the starting faction 38 points? Did Bloodline traits turn into free points during the alpha and release? If so, then shouldn't the base faction be only 34 points and not 38? (B) The Saurian Cunning shouldn't that increase the Command from 3 to 4 across the board since its a 1st tier trait? (C) Do the other units lose the saurian cunning when they switch bloodlines, or just all the troglodyte bloodlines (but not lineage traits)? (D) Why is the Advanced Karthru'ak blades 10 points? Shouldn't they only be 8? Advanced weapons add no points under that section of the 1st age book so I no understand. (E) Under the Slicer, its listed as the Slicer blades at 12 points yet under the armory its 14 points. Which one is correct? (F) Troglodyte Two Handed melee upgrade, is that on top of the 4 points for using a 2-hander already? So its 8 points in total? (G) Why is it when I add all the points of each trait per unit the points comes out differently then what's in the book? -Legionnaire is 21pts instead of 20 (bloodlines 5+quickness 4+advanced weapons 8+ cunning 4) -Trooper is 19pts instead of 30. (5+4+6+4) -Sursssi is 34 instead of 41. (6+10+10+4+4) -Draconic Warrior is 28 instead of 39 (6+2+8+8+4) -Slicer is 61 pts instead of 53 (Lineage Traits kick in finally-26pts+5+4+6+8+12) -Brute, rangers, Sorcerer, commander, and magus actually match my math. -Tort'chak is either 415pts (38x5=190+115+3+20+65+4+4+4+10) or 490pts (53x5=265+115+3+20+65+4+4+4+10) -Dragon's points add up to 285, however in the draconic ancestral traits it says the dragon monster costs 35 points where the Core rulebook states the dragon monster is only 15. Which is correct here? There is a joke about me and math amongst my friends so I tried to include the numbers at least to show you how I am getting there. Did I follow the yellow brick road of math correctly or are there steps I had missed to reach the numbers the Core rule book did.

Hey Durnaxe.
There were a couple point costs between the faction being created and the Birth of Genesys final draft. This coming time around for the 2nd and 3rd Age we have avoided this by creating the factions after editing is complete.
So there are some discrepancies in the traits and point values, most specifically to the Reptilia and the Karthru'ak. So rely upon the Birth of Genesys to customize your faction.
It does look like you are calculating the point costs correctly. The only thing I see you are not taking into account are a classes total point value is Faction Traits + Class Traits/options.
For example on the Trooper Class there are 19pts of Class Traits and Class options added for the class. This is on top of the faction traits the class already comes with. In this case for a level 1 class level 2 traits are dropped, as are the Troglodyte Bloodline traits.
So the Troopers replace the Troglodyte bloodline with the Saurien ones.
They gain the new Saurien Bloodline and the traits that comes with it listed + the class option instinctive behavior. 19pts in total
Faction Traits kept are only level 1 due a class restriction. Aggressive Charge 5pts, Troglodyte Weapons 2pts, and Saurien Cunning 4pts. 11pts in total
So 19pts + additional traits from the faction they still keep, which is total 30pts
And yes, the Command of 4 should be correct for the faction.
No its not a thing. That would of been the result of an editing.
Thanks for the response. Ironically when I went to bed after posting this that through my brain and sure enough, I forgot those points. EDIT: Oh actually had a new question. The Wings Trait is a lineage trait (under Draconics) yet is under Bloodline traits for each of the units in the book. Is that a thing that you can take a 1st tier lineage trait as a bloodline one?
So if I am understanding correctly if someone has a level two trait on there base troop, the 1st level troops will not have it, but they also do not pay the points for it?
