There was a long series of unanswered questions in the Discord group about the common mount found in the first age equipment section. Most of these questions revolve around the ability to apply a trait to the common mount.
The book states the following on page 116:
Mounts are common equipment and can be used by any domain and customized by adding up to a single accessible trait to them for the added point cost. Common equipment does not need a specific trait to unlock, but if an additional trait is added, this trait must be taken as a faction or class trait and applied only to the mount.
So the questions are as follows
1) If a class trait is taken for the mount, does this count against the classes maximum traits, even if the class does not choose to have a mount?
2) If a faction trait is used for the mount at faction creation does this count against the minimum and maximum traits a faction is allowed to take for their domain?
3) If a faction trait is used for the mount, does every model in that faction pay the cost for that trait even if they do not take a mount? or is that cost simply added to the 15 point cost of the mount and only factored in when a common mount is taken by a model?
4) Does taking a trait as a mount specific trait as noted above preclude the model taking the mount from also having the same trait as that would result in the same trait being taken twice? For instance if you have the skeletal ability from the fey domain on your faction, are you unable to also take the skeletal trait and apply it to the mount as that would result in you having taken the same trait twice? Similarly if a faction trait is selected to be applied only to the mount does this prevent that trait from being taken by your classes as a class trait or does taking that trait as a class trait prevent that class from being able to take a mount as again this would result in the same trait being taken twice?
5) What defines an accessible trait for the mount? It is possible for traits such as Hybrid (domain) and Forbidden lore to grant traits outside of a given domain. Do these traits become available to the common mount as well? In particular if a given class takes a hybrid trait as a class trait does that make the branch the class selects available to the mount as well?
6) Specific to the Fey domain, how does the trait given to the common mount interact with the "single sphere" bonuses? Does taking a mount with a trait outside the class's sphere cause them to loose that bonus? Does the mount also benefit from the "single sphere" bonus? What happens when an incarnate subclass takes a common mount that's been given a trait outside the incarate's chosen sphere?
7) As mounts have no class level themselves, what happens when a mount is given a trait with a cost that varies based on class level? Especially if a faction trait is chosen to apply specifically to the common mount? And also what happens should a trait that costs a number of additional progression points per level be chosen?
