So I have this situation:
I have a lv1 Fey class (max property 1) who I want to equip with a common shield (property 1).
As a trait for it, I take Shield of Valor, an imbued power (property 0), which enhances a shield's deflection by 1, and morale by 1.
How does this interact? Does it make the shield have property 2 because of the +1 deflection, or will it remain at 1 because the power has property 0?
Following on, assuming I upgrade the power with +1 strength, doubling the bonuses the power gives, will the shield then count as property 2, 3, or still as 1?
Furthermore, I assume the answer for this holds for similar situations as well (like when enhancing natural armor, which is capped to the max property level of the class) ?
Thanks in advance!
Ward,
Properties stack. So in your situation the shield will have property 1+0= 1 for the properties of the item. If you increase the bonus for the imbued power in any way this would add one more property to the item.
Items, weapons, powers, have their own base property level normally 0 or 1 no matter what the bonuses the item or power give you.
In total you just add the properties to the item. So if you decided that you wanted to add additional bonuses to the shield for instance like augmenting its imbued power for a higher level class, this would add to the properties of the item.
Every bonus enhancement adds +1. Essentially a powerful shield with properties 3 would not be able to be used by a level 1 class without abilities that allow them to use it.
In general a classes maximum properties equals its class level although each domain can increase this maximum in some cases, Humanoids for equipment, Fey for powers and so on.
That is a total of 3 properties between them so you are good. You just would not be able to augment the powers any further.
