While you can take it as a faction trait, it will not apply to anyone but Level 3 Classes, so it is best when taken as a Class Trait. Im certain someone will come up with a build to do it as a faction trait, but by far its best when taken as a Class Trait. This way you can specifically choose which Level 3 Classes will become a Nether Lord (Level 4 Class).
Yes, you would be choose the stats when taking the trait whether it be for the Faction (when you take it) or for the Class. So as a Faction Trait it's less customizable.
A Nether Lord really turns your standard run of the mill Archlord into something quite a bit more powerful, just shy if not equal to some Paragons.
The power is in selecting those extra characteristics and two additional traits from virtually any single branch of life out there. Im not completely certain how people will use them, since they are extremely flexible on how they are built. In testing a Nether Lord is rather expensive for lower point games, but the fact that one can be fielded in some 1,000pt games speaks to the strength of them. They do get really expensive though, so there is a balancing act on making them effective.
Im certain there will be some great lore/backstory created for Netherlords.
Would love to see some builds on them........ and the final product.
This is my Nether Lord from Creature Castor (sorry for the bad pic, just took it in horrid lighting)
This guy is a Nether Lord with Death Reborn and is able to cast Blackbolt. Powerful in melee able to attack at range with Blackbolt (modifying it for a blast or higher strength as the situation arises). Very tough, and a little ridiculous in points
@James Jefferson Points is relative oftentimes. Check the 1st Age Faction Pack and Core Rules Factions as kind of a base line for what point costs are.
Not to mention a Level 4 class is going to be more expensive.
