Isn't the Biest Class Level 2 is essentially a more expensive version of L1 class? I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing. Aside from Fierce intensity (which, while nifty is something you pay for) the L2 class option is twice the base cost of the L1 class for +1A* with the same option to take 1 trait and a more expensive option to upgrade an attribute. Was the intent to stack an L2 class on the L1 like humanoids do?
*Since most Biests have a high base cost in relation to other races it usually turns out to be a rather expensive bonus attack.
Ok, thanks. It sounds like they will be good classes for progression even if they have somewhat limited initial use.
I was reading on the progression stuff, but haven't had a chance to do any of that yet. I've only played a few games using the pre-generated armies and we did not do any advancement afterwards.
The 2nd Tier Biests are rather close to the level 1's with the exception that through gameplay they can "grow/expand" further than level 1's with higher maximum class traits, properties, and of course Fierce Intensity.
Its interesting we were just talking in-house about the 1st Age Biests yesterday and comparing notes between the domains while discussing the domains for the following ages. I don't think we had an overwhelming consensus, but over all the Biests have really performed well over the games and with the trait selection tend to have the highest "stats" in the game.
As for intent, it was to grow your level 2's into specialty areas but to start them off lighter as Biests become quite characteristic oriented with how their traits work.
I recall earlier testing had one additional trait option for level 2's in the first age to mirror their 2nd Age options (which btw is a now a new class-there are two level 2 classes for the Biests in the 2nd Age). The 1st Age Biests became a balance issue and after long discussions was adjusted to what you see now.
