First....I just recieved the physical books and they are beautifu! Thank you so much!
Next: I need some assistance in creating my next faction. The faction idea is that they are a society based upon the concepts of alchemy utilizing potions and elixirs to get desieed effects ie potions of healing, Greek fire I’m just a bit stumped on how to flesh this out rules wise.
ideally the faction would progress steampunk wise technogicially while maintaining the magical-chemical side of alchemy.
Alchemy is not directly in the game and was probably the one area I wished would of made the books. If you were a playtester with the later editions, you know it was one of those things that was in there, but was removed because of the rules were not meshing properly.
This does not mean Alchemy is gone from the game, just that the rules really needed a lot more work and I was not at all happy with them. Once we have the next Ages out, there is an expansion planned, which has everything that did not make the current book sets.
Some of the things that are currently listed in the Dark World Expansion that were removed from the original game due to space/rules testing/etc. I literally just opened up our Dark World Expansion files to list these.
Alchemy- potions, transmutation of materials, chemicals, Flame Siphons etc.
Destroying Terrain- "That wall need removing?, yep, rules to destroy terrain."
More Terrain Rules- Special Area types- Like holy ruins, water, etc.
Insekt Larvae- various types of brooding and bases
Spell Absorption- supernatural and power like abilities and redirecting it.
Alliances- ways to ally up and use squads from other armies. Includes Traitors, Spys, etc.
Backboards- Long Distance effects on the game.
Expanded Powers Section including new powers that did not make the cut, blood magic, rune casting, and a new ways to manipulate powers.
We have a couple different approaches when it comes to the expansion, that may include possible playtesting by backers. Right now though our focus is on the current game for the next 2nd Age and 3rd Age launch. So I do not have a time frame yet for all this. These rules were played at some point, but need expanding upon or adjustments to fit into the game better.
It may be possible to work around it, by taking spheres in the Healing and Fire section to use the powers listed there. But that would not include giving those to potions to others or benefiting an Alchemist in the army.
Personally I love the Steampunk concept with Alchemy. Definitely will inspire me to push forward to get these rules fleshed out.
